10 Oasis Songs That Beat 'Live Forever' In The Charts
3. Lyla
'Lyla' marks another Oasis song that earnt a BPI silver grade for amassing over 60,000 copies sold. More so, it did not match 'Live Forever's BPI platinum status when it reached the charts in 2005, but still peaked higher.
According to Noel, 'Lyla' is inspired from his admiration of The Who. It was originally entitled 'Smiler', until he realised that such a song name was taken, and so 'Lyla' naturally rhymed with it and was a second-best.
Debate still rages on about who the titular character is based on, but no band member has outright declared a response. Instead, it serves as another Oasis mystery that may never have a definite answer. Let’s just listen away and hope LG or NG sends a tweet out about it soon.
