10 Perfect Albums From 2019 To Chill To

9. Vampire Weekend – Father Of The Bride

Ezra Koenig showed that you don’t always need two to tango… or simply just make a great record. Although Rostam Batmanglij was a driving force on the band’s first three records, he wasn’t involved in the 18-track Father of the Bride, which included cameos from Danielle Haim and Steve Lacy.

Koenig’s song writing was front and centre on FOTB, and while it dealt with love, marriage, and reaching the big 3-0, it also nodded to anti-Semitism and the current state of the world. Of course, all of that was backed by tuneful melodies and the band’s trademark sideways humour.

Not all the tracks hit the mark, but for the most part it’s great for a long car drive or to decompress to after a long day at work or uni. The knowingly titled Unbearably White is one of the most tranquil but gorgeous songs you’ll hear in 2019 or 2020. Hopefully, Vampire Weekend won’t wait another 6 years before releasing their next album!
