10 Perfect Albums Ruined By One Song
1. Digsy's Dinner - Oasis
Making an album on its own is already a bit of a hard job. Especially if you're just starting out, you have to put your strongest foot forward and make something that acts as a bit of a calling card for what you stand for. When you're already calling yourself the greatest band in the world though, you sometimes feel like you can at least slack off a little bit.
When Noel Gallagher was putting together the songs for what would become Definitely Maybe, Digsy's Dinner is something that Noel surely must known is crap. Though the entire Oasis sound was intended to be somewhat of a throwback to the '60s, this is where they lay that nostalgic sound on a little too thick, down to the dopey lyrics about going over Liam's house to have lasagna and dorky piano break that comes midway through the song.
There are still some bits and pieces of the song that are brilliant though, like the lyric about these possibly being the best days of our lives, only for it to get sidetracked by more talk about having this girl over and giving her strawberries and cream and the wonders of lasagna. Noel has always been upfront when he says that some of his lyrics are complete nonsense, but with a song like this on the album Definitely Maybe, you have to wonder just what the hell was he on about.
