10 Perfect Albums That Have Awful Production

4. Be Here Now - Oasis

After the success of What's the Story Morning Glory, Oasis were practically too big to fail. Everything that they had talked about doing since the days of Definitely Maybe were finally coming to fruition, and it looked like they were going to be one of the next legendary bands alongside their idols like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. They had the world at their feet, and Be Here Now is the sound of what happens when a band starts to believe their own hype.

Looking to go even bigger than they had before, the band would be in and out of Abbey Road Studios, adding different layers to every single track they played, which made the songs stretch out far longer than they should have. Although the old Oasis sound is evident from the first track D'You Know What I Mean, you can tell something isn't quite right either, with layers of guitars stacked on top of each other and the band hammering the chorus home for far too long, like All Around the World being their own snide answer to Hey Jude.

For as high as Noel Gallagher is on his own music though, even he admits that this was the moment where the band blew it, saying that most of the sessions involved may too much cocaine and an endless amount of guitar overdubs. This might have been the album that made Oasis a stadium act around the world, but in just over an hours' worth of material, the initial flame of Britpop was snuffed out for good.
