10 Perfect Anti Rock Star Songs

6. Turn the Page - Bob Seger

One of the most consistent friends that a rock star has is the road. When you're touring around the world, every city seems to blend into each other and all you're left with is just a stretch of road with no end in sight. And in the age when rock stars were becoming some of the biggest superstars in the world, even the world of dad rock had its reservations with the never ending tour cycle.

Setting the scene on a long and lonesome highway, Bob Seger really lays everything bare on Turn the Page, talking about just how desensitized you can get when you're on the road. From the minute that you become famous, it might seem like the biggest thing in the world, until you have to end up giving the same show over and over again. In between those shows, all you're left with is ducking into restaurants when you can and becoming almost a shell of yourself, having to put as much energy as you can muster into those few hours that you're onstage.

Even when the day's done, it's still not over, with that lonesome ringing of the amplifiers keeping you company at night as you try to drift off to sleep. While there have been many odes to the road in rock history, this is probably the most accurate to what that life is really like. It's adventurous, and it seems like a rollercoaster, but at the center of it all, it's incredibly lonely at the end of the night.
