10 Perfect Hard Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
9. Pyromania - Def Leppard
As far as hair metal is concerned, Def Leppard don't really get the credit they deserve for just how ambitious they went. Hell, most bands around this time were lucky if they had people who could play their instruments, let alone make songs with hooks like Pour Some Sugar On Me. Before they went for the gold though, Pyromania serves as the perfect gateway drug for anyone looking for something a little heavier from the rock genre.
This is by no means the heaviest thing you'll ever hear, with most of the vocal lines sounding like they're more indebted to a band like Queen than AC/DC. When you strip away the layers though, this is that perfect moment when Leppard still had a massive amount of chops, with songs like Stagefright and Rock of Ages being the closest thing to perfection they had ever made up to this point.
Since this was also the first album to feature Phil Collen on guitar, you can definitely hear the six string game being turned up a notch, with the lead breaks in Photograph having a decent amount of shred behind them. Even though the hard rock category can get a little more subjective from one band to the next, it's not very often that you get an album like this that almost everyone can agree kicks ass.
