10 Perfect Rock Albums Of The 2000s

1. Hot Fuss - The Killers

Looking back on the '00s these days, it felt like we were still living in the glory days of the '90s for a while. Outside of the world turning ugly around us, the sounds of the music felt like we were living at a 24 hour party that didn't feel like it was ever going to end. When you have a party that never ends though, you're not safe from eventually getting your heart broken.

Bringing back the '80s-style synths for another go around, the Killers' debut Hot Fuss is pretty much bulletproof for every single track. Compared to the other conceptual pieces that were coming out around the same time, this was one of the most airtight collection of songs in all of pop rock, with every track having the potential to be a single cut. Outside of the amazing opening side like Jenny Was a Friend of Mine and Somebody Told Me, Brandon Flowers has his heart on his sleeve for a lot of these tracks too, like the post break up anthem Smile Like You Mean It and the mini movie playing out on All These Things That I've Done.

And we practically don't even need to go over something like Mr. Brightside. Whereas most other '00s songs come up during throwback nights at the bar, this is the one eternal jam that has refused to die ever since it was released. Rock has never been known to be all that sentimental, but when you have your heart open this much in your songs, you're bound to find some believers out in the wild.
