10 Perfect Rock Albums That Everyone Hated Making

7. Neighborhoods - Blink-182

There was a moment in the early 2010's where every single pop punk kid got to relive their adolescence for a brief moment in time. Right after Travis Barker got out of his recovery from the horrific plane crash with DJ AM, he was joined by his former bandmates in Blink-182 at the Grammys and announced that they would be releasing new music soon. That mouth may have said one thing on that night, but it was a different story when they actually got to work.

During the recording for most of Neighborhoods, Tom DeLonge was starting to butt heads with the rest of the band, still wanting to go down the lofty atmospheric road that he had started with Angels and Airwaves in the past few years. Though this led to some of the most mature songs that the band has ever made, they didn't really have the chance to celebrate it or anything, given that Tom was in a completely separate studio and would end up swapping different files of material that would eventually morph into Blink songs.

While other artists might have jammed, this is the kind of album that almost feels like it was artificially pieced together, and still it manages to sound like pop punk's first steps to maturity. The camaraderie of the band may not have been fully healed just yet, but Neighborhoods still feels like an album with the spirit of pop punk in its heart.
