10 Perfect Rock Songs That Were Written By Accident
1. Rock and Roll - Led Zeppelin
From day one, Led Zeppelin always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the press. Though their usual mystique gave them a strange aura among fans, critics were savage to them in their early days, thinking that they were too derivative of the rockers that had come before them. As a song like Rock and Roll proves though, there is not a damn thing wrong with that.
By the time that their untitled record was starting to take shape, Zeppelin had come a long way from being the scrappy blues belters from London, going for a much more epic scope with songs like Stairway to Heaven and the Battle of Evermore. In between the sessions for the John Bonham showcase Four Sticks, Bonham kicked into the signature drum beat from Little Richard's Keep a Knockin, with the band following in right behind him.
Rather than just knock out a quick cover to blow off steam, Robert Plant came soaring in with a whole new set of lyrics, almost ad libbing the different pieces before coming up with one of the most off the cuff jams of their career. Of all the songs on this list though, you can barely even call Rock and Roll a song that was written from back to front. For all intents and purposes, this is the kind of pure rock bombast that couldn't even be captured if you were to try and write it down.
