Although the fact that The Libertines helped usher in a new era of rock music following the demise of Britpop (just as The Strokes dragged the USA out of its rap-rock stupor) is unquestionably a good thing, it did generate an army of completely ignorant fans. The fact that cocky little fans of The View and The Courteeners have the nerve to harp on about how original and amazing their favourite bands are can really grate, especially when those bands wouldn't even be on the radar had 'Up The Bracket' never been made. On the plus side, these greatly-influenced artists have released some great tracks - so it might have been worth putting up with their overhyped heydays after all.
