10 Punk Bands You Need To See Before You're Boring

1. Rancid

1991’s Rancid are a top-tier band any self-respecting punk should make every effort to see live. Created by former members of the legendary Operation Ivy, their influence on the genre has been nothing short of incredible.

This band’s mix of ska and melodic punk revolutionised the scene and made way for the likes of Less Than Jake, Goldfinger, Mad Caddies and more. Rancid also have ties to Green Day with Billie-Joe Armstrong co-writing the excellent track Radio, performing live with the band and even considering joining during their early years.

Rancid have never released a lacklustre album, with every one of the nine available being a start-to-finish roller-coaster of sing-along, melodic genius. That being said, one album stands out high above the rest. That album is, of course, “…And Out Come The Wolves.” This is the closest thing you’ll find to a perfect punk record. If you’ve been anywhere that plays good punk music, you’ve 100% heard a few songs from this album.

The only word to describe a Rancid show is fun. It’s just a total party from start to finish. Prepare to hear plenty hits, witness some sweet, drunken dance moves, and smile profusely from the moment the lights go down.
