10 Punk Bands You Need To See Before You're Boring

4. Bad Religion

It’s hard to put in to words just how much Bad Religion have done for punk-rock since their 1980 formation. They pioneered a completely new style of music which was later emulated by some of the biggest bands of the late 80s through the early 90s.

It wouldn’t be reaching to say that without their influence, we probably wouldn’t have bands like Rancid, Green Day, The Offspring or Blink 182 to follow suit. Even if we did, they would sound a hell of a lot different to the way they do now.

Bad Religion guitarist, Brett Gurewitz, is also the owner of the mammoth that is Epitaph Records. This is without a doubt the biggest independent punk label in existence and has released records for nearly every band on this list. If you have some time, we strongly recommend you have a look at the massive list of bands who’ve worked with Epitaph; it’s a spectacle.

With an expected 40 year anniversary tour around the corner in 2020, Bad Religion are another band who are getting on a bit age-wise. Be sure time doesn’t get the better of you and pay homage to these total heroes while you still have the chance!
