10 Rock Albums That Peak With The First Song

1. Highway To Hell - AC/DC

Whilst AC/DC have other recognisable songs, there are few with quite the same reach as the title track to 1979's Highway to Hell.

From the moment that opening hook kicks in, you know what you're in for. Angus' guitar playing, Bon's screeching, and all the chorus lines you can belt out until your vocal chords snap clean in two.

It's rock royalty, plain and simple. It might not be the most complex song ever written or touch your soul in the same way that a Bob Dylan track might, but it's good honest fun and there's nothing wrong with that.

Unfortunately for the rest of the album, there is nothing that even comes close to taking the crown.

Show Down in Flames? Good, but not top tier. Touch Too Much? Again, fun, but does it have the same staying power as Highway to Hell.

We both know the answer to that one.

As much as you may like anything else on this record, there's nothing else that could be considered a signature track. Nobody's out there bothering DJs at weddings to play Beating Around the Bush.
