10 Rock Albums That Peak With The First Song
2. Let It Bleed - The Rolling Stones
Let It Bleed came at a very turbulent time for The Rolling Stones.
Original bassist Brian Jones had been fired midway through its recording due to his ongoing drug habit. Jones would pass away not long after in a tragic drowning accident.
Regardless, the band churned out a fantastic album that sits among many of their fans' absolute favourites. Speaking of favourites, how about one of the best Rolling Stones of all time to kick things off?
Gimme Shelter sets the tone perfectly for the downhearted view that the album takes of society and the human race. Bleak lyrics about fire and murder are perfectly set against the winding psychedelic guitar and relentless drum pattern that catch you up a swirl of emotion.
Simply put, the four-and-a-half minutes fly by when you're listening to this song, and it feels like it's transporting you back to another time.
You Can't Always Get What You Want is at the other end of this album, but that gets old after a while. Over seven minutes? Seriously?
For The Stones at their finest, you can't really do much better than the start of Let It Bleed.
