10 Rock Albums That Peak With The Second Song
8. Straight Up - Badfinger
Although they were taken under the wing of The Beatles and had some decent success in the early 70s, Welsh band Badfinger haven't really endured in the public eye.
Unless you're a fan of Breaking Bad.
The fabulous closing sequence of the show's finale is soundtracked by the group and its 1972 single Baby Blue. Aside from being a banger, the song was chosen because it matched the blue colouring of Walter White's famous methamphetamine.
As we mentioned, the song is a banger - the standout of what many believe to be Badfinger's best ever album.
Straight Up was the band's fourth release and it went through somewhat of a troubled production cycle. Geoff Emerick started out as producer before he palmed duties off to George Harrison. The ex-Beatle then got too busy and Todd Rundgren ended up in control.
You could argue that Day After Day is a better song - it's got Harrison playing on it, after all - but it's nowhere near as iconic as Baby Blue.
If somebody writes a gritty TV show about drug production and uses Day After Day in the final episode, then maybe we'll revisit this.
