10 Rock Albums That You Were Never Supposed To Hear

8. Amnesiac - Radiohead

Kid A by Radiohead is known as one of those gamechanging moments at the turn of the century. As Thom Yorke and co. became poised to be one of the next great arena rock acts, their decision to strip everything back down and add electronic elements created some of the most adventurous rock songs ever conceived. For most fans, Kid A was a phenomenal success...so how about some more?

Yeah, while the release of Kid A fits perfectly as a single 10 track album, the group's original idea for a double album resulted in Amnesiac, which is full of tracks also put together at the Kid A sessions. Instead of coming off just like a collection of odds and ends, these songs work amazingly well...even though they fluctuate from track to track. While songs like Pyramid Song stand as the natural extension of Kid A, other experiments like Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors and the second version of Morning Bell can get a bit too weird for their own good at times.

On the other hand, the idea of a completely different listening experience also gives them a chance to try more off-the-wall ideas, like the funeral dirge that closes everything out on Life in a Glasshouse. Amnesiac might just get a bad rep as Kid A B-sides, but there are still some subtle hints of brilliance all over this thing.
