10 Rock Artists That Had Hit Albums Over A Decade Apart

2. The Who - 25 Years

British rock megastars The Who are very used to chart success.

Of their 12 studio albums, only two never made it to the UK top ten, and both of those still qualified for the top 15. Chuck in a myriad of memorable individual tracks and you can see why this lot have stayed so popular for such a long time.

The band stopped releasing albums regularly after 1982's It's Hard, after the band all fell out with each other and broke up. They wouldn't put out another record for 24 years, by which point bass player John Entwhistle had sadly died.

2006's Endless Wire would reach number nine in the UK charts, marking a welcome return for the surviving members of the band.

Hang on, wasn't It's Hard released 24 years before that, not 25? Well, yes, but that one only made it to number 11.

To find The Who's most recent top ten, you have to go back a year earlier to the second place-achieving Face Dances. That makes a full quarter of a century between Who hits.

They would then wait another 13 years to release the album Who, which was also a big seller.
