10 Rock Artists That Had Hit Singles Over A Decade Apart
2. Santana - 29 Years
A huge leap forward now for entry number two, as this band spent the better part of 30 years waiting for another hit single to come their way.
Spearheaded by renowned axeman Carlos Santana, his namesake band came to the world's attention at the legendary 1969 Woodstock festival, blowing the crowds away with their blend of rock, jazz, and Latin music.
Although, no offence, that crowd was so drugged up that a simple card trick would have caused them all to freak out.
Santana's final US top ten for a long time was their version of Fleetwood Mac's Black Magic Woman from 1970, which reached number four. They came close on a number of occasions, but weren't able to replicate this success until 1999.
That song was, of course, Smooth, their monster hit with vocalist Rob Thomas of Matchbox 22. Smooth was everywhere at the time, going to number one in America and reminding everyone that Carlos Santana was A) Still alive and B) Still really good.
A few more top tens were achieved in the early 2000s, before Santana faded back into the mists of time.
