10 Rock Bands Who Only Have One Original Member Left

5. Slipknot

On the surface, it only seems like Slipknot have made a few adjustments to their lineup over the years. Despite having some heavyhitters like Chris Fehn and Joey Jordison not in the fold anymore, it sometimes tends to seem like a small part of the puzzle when you have 9 people in the group. However, most people forget that there's only one person who's been there from day one.

For as much as Corey Taylor might be seen as the mouth of the group, both him and Jim Root were brought in afterwards from their group Stone Sour. In fact, most of Slipknot's original lineup was a shell of what they would become, with the initial idea being thought up by Jordison and his friends when working as a gas station clerk at night while still in Iowa. While Paul Gray was in the trenches, his death in the late '00s left a hole in the group that could never be filled.

As it stands, most of Slipknot's foundation these days comes down to Shawn 'Clown' Crahan, who's vision has led Slipknot through all of the good times and the bad. It's also pretty grounding to have him in the group now, since he seems to be the one person who completely understands the concept of what Slipknot should be. Regardless of who's behind the mask these days, the real menace of Slipknot will remain intact so long as our beloved Clown is still annihilating his mammoth drums onstage.
