10 Rock Bands With Amazing Live Shows
8. Rush
Any band that consists of just 3 people is going to have to do a little bit more than just play their instruments to wow the crowd. Since you don't have a lot of personnel to work with, you need to make sure that you have something up your sleeve to keep the audience engaged whenever the song starts. If you're just that good at your instrument though, that can be more than enough for the crowd to get into.
Even with the limitation of being in a trio, every performance that Rush gave during their tenure was some of the most daring feats in rock music. While you can basically just stop the conversation by just going over Neil Peart's insane drumkit, the rest of the band are certainly no slouches either, with Alex Lifeson doing a balancing act with all of his effects pedals and weaving in and out of every song while keeping everything in check.
Though Neil seems to be doing the most leg work, what Geddy Lee takes upon himself every night is almost a circus act level of spectacle, playing both the bass guitar and the synthesizers at the same time. It's not even done there either, since Geddy also has to sing into the microphone and operate different synth pedals with his feet on every song. Other prog bands might just like to finetune one instrument, but Rush are basically a few sounds away from creating a rock and roll orchestra whenever they hit the stage.
