10 Rock Bands With Amazing Live Shows
2. Slipknot
For as many similarities as they have, a metal show is always going to be miles different than your traditional rock and roll show. While you already have legions of fans bouncing up and down during the live show, this is where you also throw moshing into the mix, where everyone is trying to have a cathartic release by beating the snot out of each other. If you thought mothers had problems with rock and roll shows though, Slipknot is the kind of thing ripped straight out of their nightmares.
With each of them donning different face masks for every album cycle, you're in for absolute chaos every time that they hit the stage, as Clown serves as one of the main masters of mayhem. From one song to the next, you have another stunt happening left and right, from the early days of Joey Jordison playing while harnessed to his drum kit as it moved to some of the insane stage dives that would happen during the show, some of which have left DJ Sid Wilson seriously injured.
The best part of the night for every fan has to be when the band closes with Spit It Out, as Corey Taylor commands every one in the crowd to get down on the ground before the audience erupts when the rest of the song plays out. While most modern metal bands have amped up their pyro here and there, what Slipknot does onstage feels equivalent to musical warfare.
