10 Rock Bands With Awesome Shows You Must See
6. Evil Scarecrow
Evil Scarecrow are a parody metal act, made up of some of the nerdiest goths in the UK. They self-proclaim to be “The finest heavy metal band to ever write a song about a robot.” Their music is strongly influenced by sci-fi, with one of their biggest hits, Crabulon, being about a robotic crustacean hell-bent on world domination.
Excluding their disproportionately massive Bloodstock performances, Evil Scarecrow are somewhat of a wildcard entry for this list. This is because their regular, small venue concerts have a stage show so deliberately bad that it’s fantastic. These guys are all about the memes, and their concerts absolutely live up to that.
Props such as spacecrafts are very clearly held up with fishing rods, with one lucky puppeteer backstage, running maniacally back and forth to make them look like they’re flying. Then we have the tin-foil robots. Looking like something a primary school child’s half-drunk Dad whipped up as a last minute Halloween costume, these shiny, cardboard cyborgs really do bring the stage to life.
At an Evil Scarecrow gig, expect to also see many attendees dressed in their finest robot outfits. Ballroom dancing, robot fights and crab worship all play a big part. You know, standard goth stuff.
