10 Rock Songs That Are A Nightmare To Sing

7. Love Reign O'er Me - The Who

More than a few rockstars have come under fire in recent years for going just a little too over the top with their vocals. As much as the song might mean a lot to you, there's no reason to add this many layers of emotional cheese into the mix when you could just sing the damn song as it is. Every so often though, you tend to get just the right amount of extravagance to go with the right song.

During the era of Quadrophenia, the Who were in their prime in terms of raw musicianship, with Pete Townshend's songwriting and guitar playing coming into its fullest form alongside Keith Moon and John Entwistle. Since Love Reign O'er Me marks the end of the character Jimmy's journey in the rock opera, Roger Daltrey takes us on a vocal journey for the ages, going for impressive vocal leaps as well as slowing the melody down at the right times for maximum impact.

Ever since the first version, Love Reign O'er Me has almost gained a notoriety among rock fans as being the litmus test to the quality of your voice, with everyone from Joe Elliot of Def Leppard to Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder turning in their respective versions over the years. While it might not be the biggest crowdpleaser at karaoke, this is the one song that will probably get you more respect among your vocal peers.
