10 Rock Songs That Killed Bands' Career

9. My World - Guns N Roses

First of all, you can't really say that a band like Guns N Roses killed their career by any stretch of the imagination. If their career was tarnished at all, it was through suicide, with most of the band quitting in protest after the disastrous tour for the Use Your Illusion records. If you stuck around to the end of the double album experience though, you may have seen that trainwreck coming a mile away.

As much as this album could have justifiably ended on the alternate version of Don't Cry, the fact that we had to sit through whatever the hell My World is seems like torture. Since this was Axl Rose's moment to flirt with every single genre he could get his hands on, this is probably just him trying on an industrial metal schtick to see how it fits. Then again, no matter how hard he tries, Axl is no Trent Reznor, which makes this entire song feel a lot more dorky than confrontational.

Whereas Trent sounded like he was on the verge of snapping across any of Nine Inch Nails' releases, this just sounds like a high school bully stoned off his ass looking to fight anyone who comes within a 5 mile radius. Like any bullies in real life though, it's best to just ignore and keep moving.
