10 Rock Songs That Killed Bands' Career

8. Young and Menace - Fall Out Boy

After coming back from a lengthy hiatus, Fall Out Boy had become a much different beast than the band we knew back on From Under the Cork Tree. Compared to the emo tinged heartthrobs who gave us songs like Sugar We're Going Down, the sound of songs like Centuries were a lot more pop flavored than most were willing to stomach. Even if you could get behind a more chart friendly sound, Young and Menace is when you saw a lot of people jump off the hype train.

Being used as the kick off single for Mania, this bold new vision that they had quickly divulged into a computer generated mess, going from a decent verse to one of the most inarticulate choruses of any pop punk band's career. From the moment the chorus starts, it feels like the song had been taken over by Alvin and the Chipmunks if they were trying to sound like Kanye West during his Yeezus era.

It's not like the band were unaware of it either, delaying the release of the album by a few months and only playing snippets of the song in concert. Even though it's only a few years old at this point, this is the kind of song that's going to age about as bad as high school yearbook photos.
