10 Rock Songs That Killed Bands' Career

6. Can't Stop Partying - Weezer

Most of Weezer's career post-Pinkerton has seemed a bit spotty for most fans to fully digest. Just asking people their favorite record from these nerd rockers past the year 2000 could result in multiple different answers, none of which would necessarily be wrong or right. Except in the case of Can't Stop Partying, where everyone agrees that Rivers Cuomo really dropped the ball.

The crux of Raditude already feels like the band were playing with fire, since most of the songs feature outside songwriters that don't match well with their style at all. Though some of the poppier stuff was never too far away from Weezer's sound, there's nothing about Can't Stop Partying that's worth redeeming. Set to one of the most basic beats you could use for a dance song, this entire track feels hollow, as Rivers puts on a robotic sounding voice and talks about how fun it is to party.

Just the inherent wrongness of that statement can be too much for Weezer fans, since this was the guy known for writing songs about how cool it is to be a loser. By the time Lil Wayne comes in to drop a verse, it's time to fully abandon the concept of this album being saved. Weezer had officially leaned into pop mode, and they were about to sign their soul away for money.
