10 Rock Songs You Didn't Know Had Big-Name Guest Stars

2. Paul Weller - Champagne Supernova

What's the Story Morning Glory was the true watershed moment for Oasis. While the band's debut Definitely Maybe sent them into the stratosphere and became one of the best debuts in rock history, their second offering showed that they took the time to refine their sound even further to create near perfect pop rock.

Though many singles off this record are essential, the 8 minute closer "Champagne Supernova" is truly the band's magnum opus, as they stretch out the tune to put you in an ethereal drug haze. Most of the power behind this song comes from both Liam and Noel Gallagher, but the mid song solo has a greater punk edge than anything else they had done.

Rather than Noel laying down one of his own solos, the band actually brought in Paul Weller from the Jam to lay down some licks to send the song into overdrive. In terms of finding the right guy, Weller's work with the Jam was the perfect progenitor to Oasis' form of snide Britpop, and the actual fireworks he lays down on this track feels like watching the world crumble and build back up again before your very ears.

Oasis could serve up more than their fair share of badass tunes, but it took the fretwork of Weller to cement this song's place in rock history.
