10 Scariest Tracks In Hard Rock
9. Raining Blood -Slayer
When it comes to metal music, the use of more demonic imagery tends to fit nicely within the confines of speedy guitar riffs. Out of all the great bands to emerge out of the thrash metal scene of the 1980's, Slayer's "Raining Blood" was probably the closest the metal genre came to sonic demon conjuring.
Starting with ominous rainfall, the initial riff gives the listener the feeling of Satan rising from the center of the Earth. After pillaging through the land in the verses, the true Hellscape begins when the tempo picks and Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman display furious feats of metal aggression. There is no letting up as you reach the first verse, as Tom Araya assaults your senses as he paints the picture of the sky turning red and blood dripping across the world.
Even when the track slows in tempo, the listener isn't let off the hook as the track pummels you with power chords that sound like Cthulu marching his way across the land. Once you're out of the doledrums, the tempo increases and quickly throws you back into the ring for a musical bludgeoning. Ending with a sudden thunderclap, mankind is left as a crater, with the rain providing a stellar ending to heavy metal's most unholy offering.
