10 Songs By The 1975 You've Been Sleeping On
6. I Like America And America Likes Me
Anyone who has ever been to see The 1975 live will know that Matty Healy is far from a shrinking violet when it comes to political or topical matters. If anything, he has become so self aware of his monologues that he promises not to wax lyrical about the hot topic several minutes before jumping on his soapbox and putting the world to rights...
Perhaps not a track everyone has slept on but casual fans probably skipped over a lot of 'A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships' and no doubt missed out on the sheer brilliance the band shared with the world because of it's spacey, ambient intro and heavily autotuned vocal tracking.
Happily, the track did get a televised airing on James Corden's 'Late, Late Show' and millions of Americans were gifted one of the rawest performances the band have ever given on television but anyone who doesn't have CBS on their TV (the rest of the world) didn't get to witness this and the song never got the attention it deserves.
Big statements throughout from the band but essential listening.
