10 Songs That Actually Got Better Live

1. We Will Rock You - Queen

It's pretty much a no brainer to put a handful of Queen's songs among the greatest live songs of all time. Though they may have been studio wizards every time they went in to cut a record, the band's stadium rock sound was meant to fill an arena full of people. They had already crafted a masterpiece with "Bohemian Rhapsody," but Brian May ended up penning the ultimate crowd participation song.

From a raw musical standpoint, "We Will Rock You" is a pretty bare-bones recording, consisting of nothing more than vocals, guitar, and rhythmic stomps and claps. There had been far more complex Queen tunes, but the simplicity is the main reason why the song works so well. As opposed to filling up a stadium with as many sounds as possible, the act of millions of people clapping in unison to the beat turned the song into a different beast entirely.

There are probably millions of people who fill up sports arenas who are more familiar with the actual rhythmic accents than the actual song itself. It also got even better when Freddie Mercury took the stage, where he had each of those fans eating out of the palm of his hand. Queen was already one of the greatest live acts in the world, and it's only fitting for them to have one of the greatest stadium songs ever put on record.
