10 Songs That Would've Fit Perfectly On The Next Beatles Album (Had They Not Split)

9. Cold Turkey - John Lennon

Even if the Fabs had not broken up, there were still some heavy stuff going on with the group behind the scenes. Amid the Abbey Road and Let It Be sessions, John Lennon was in the midst of a battle with heroin addiction that left him in a depressive state. Like all Lennon works though, he channeled his emotions into a song on "Cold Turkey."

Whereas McCartney had his hard rock chops down on "Helter Skelter," this track is Lennon's furious hard rock statement, complete with unbridled screams and punishing guitar stabs. This song may be autobiographical, but the communal mind of the Beatles could have made something unprecedented with this track. Lennon's guitar chops are fantastic, but one could speculate what kind of guitar solo George Harrison might have laid down on this rocker.

Since the band already had the tabloids asking them about their drug use, this would be a way of Lennon documenting his life in real time, almost as if he's laying his soul down like he did on his solo record Plastic Ono Band. It looked like the group may have softened up during their solo years, but "Cold Turkey" could show that they could still rip through a harsh rock song when the time called for it.
