4. 'Hypnotize' - The White Stripes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hmp3tiHSpBg I havent used Hypnotize over Fell In Love With A Girl because I think its necessarily a better song; I enjoy both equally. But the chances of non-fans having heard the former over the latter are low, so Im going for the hipster option. Hypnotize is like a shot in the leg or a slap in the face, the soundtrack to a high-speed car chase and the antidote to a sensual nightmare rolled into one. Centred around a predictably brilliant Jack White riff which very quickly breaks down into a bridge and is packed with smart offhand lines I want to hold your little hand / If I can be so bold / And be your right hand man / 'til your hands get old that are incredibly easy to overlook in a song so short. So be prepared to replay it a few times at once to emulate the feeling of it being a song of regular length, because from experience its damn hard not to. Length: 1:41
