6. CMFT Must Be Stopped - Corey Taylor
Ever since the turn of the century, Corey Taylor has always made a name for himself as a good workhorse in rock and roll. While some albums are not as good as others, there is a baseline sense of quality in whatever Taylor is equipped with, whether it be with Slipknot or Stone Sour. When you leave him to his own devices though, things get really cringeworthy really fast on CMFT Must Be Stopped.
Taken from his only solo album, this was the single that got a lot of fans worried for what this joy ride was going to entail. For as much as Taylor has made known for his vast array of influences, his delve into the world of hip hop is one of the dorkier things he has ever been associated with, with a backing track that feels like it's half finished before it even gets going.
Even when bringing in some of the heavy hitters like Tech N9ne, the song still struggles to get out of first gear, with Tech delivering some of the more forgettable bars of his later period. Especially when you look at the pedigree at work, the title itself seems oddly pretentious, as if Corey is trying to win himself a hit on name recognition alone. You can definitely have some fun when you want to Corey...just try not to look a dad when you're doing it though.
