10 Terrible Songs That ALMOST RUINED Great Albums

6. Girls - Beastie Boys

In the grand scheme of hip hop, time has been far more kind to the Beastie Boys than anyone probably expected. Considering the massive amount of talent coming from the likes of Run DMC and LL Cool J around the same time, the sounds of Licensed to Ill could be easily misconstrued as a bunch of college bros trying to give this hip hop thing a try in between keggers. Though the tunes still hold up, Girls is the one B-Boy track best left in the past.

Compared to some of the more heavyhitting tracks on the record like No Sleep Till Brooklyn, this toy commercial beat seems just a little too childish to take seriously, even on the curve that the Beasties are known to be graded on. What can't be excused though are the lyrics, which are far too misogynistic compared to the rest of the record. While the Beasties were always known to play up their more chauvinistic sense of humor, this is where it goes too far the other way, as Ad Rock sounds like a whiny 20 year old looking for a girl to do his laundry.

Given the frat bro crowd the Beasties earned with this album, it's understandable that they wanted to run as far away from that as possible on records like Paul's Boutique and Ill Communication. Even with some of the best bars of the '80s, Girls is the one song that should have been given the axe a long time ago.
