2. Waiting For New Material
Will there ever be a new System Of A Down record? At this point, its genuinely uncertain. The last System album released was in 2005. Its hard not to look back on that year and be grateful the band decided to release two records instead of just cutting it down to one little did fans know theyd be going a long time without new material. Of course, the history of new System songs has been rather convoluted. In 2013 the band's bassist Shavo Odadjian went a tirade on Facebook, calling out Serj for halting the progress of a new album. His post began:
ok.. Ill come clean.. Its not us(meaning Daron,John Or Shavo!! Its Sej, who doesn want to do a new album!!!! so please stop harassing us about it!!! We are just waiting for SERJ! Now He might hate me for exposing the truth but i Had too.. Sorry folks!!! were trying to get a new album out, its just not passing Serjs RULES!
The post then went on to detail a potential future in which the rest of the band carried on without Serj. Not long after, the official System Of A Down Facebook issued a statement claiming the remarks were made in a moment of bad judgement and didn't reflect the the position of the collective band, but even so it's clear there's some disagreement about writing new material within the band.
