As already mentioned, his brother Eric plays drums in his backing band The Hooligans, but the music in Mars' family doesn't stop there. Mars' father Peter was a percussionist and would often perform around Hawaii. His mother, Bernadette, was a singer and hula dancer who also performed around the island. The two in fact met when they performed together at the same show. Mars is one of six children. His four sisters have their own reality program following the recording of their debut album; the group and the show is called The Lylas. His uncle was an Elvis impersonator on the island and was one of the main people in getting Mars to perform. He would often perform with his family's band The Love Notes from the age of just 4.
