10 Times People Died Inside During Awkward Interviews

1. Chris Cornell At Pinkpop Festival

Imagine doing a full set of high-octane rock songs at a festival, coming off stage buzzing with energy and dripping with sweat... only to be confronted by a low-energy interviewer asking you why the show was so loud.

That's exactly what Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell had to endure after the band's set at Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands in 1992. During the painful exchange, interviewer Jan Douwe Kroeske comes across like a middle-aged dad trying to ruin his neighbours' teenaged kid's party at 9pm.

Clearly insincere, he tells Cornell that he liked some parts of their show, but that "it's so loud all over. It's constantly... loud." Cornell tries valiantly to explain to him that loud equals fun, but Kroeske is over it. "Okay it's fun, but it's so loud," he tries to correct Cornell in Goldmember's voice.

After the singer replies with "I know, can you believe it," the two stare at each other for what feels like eternity as everyone watching turns into the cringe emoji.

When it's finally over, Kroeske addresses the camera and translates the interview he just had with "Chris Coleman." It's a fitting end to an abysmal interview that feels about ten times longer than its actual running time.
