10 Times People Died Inside During Awkward Interviews

2. Billy Corgan with Nick Cave

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan starts off his guest host spot on MTV's 120 Minutes in 1994 by doing a preview of his talk with "good pal" Nick Cave and it all seems pretty cool.

When the interview starts, though, it's clear Cave wasn't there to be anyone's good pal. Corgan starts it off with a cookie-cutter question about how Cave got involved with the Lollapalooza tour, to which the Aussie cynically responds by saying his manager told him to.

He goes on a bit, but then quickly gets annoyed with the monotony of it all, asking Corgan if he came up with the questions himself and saying that he already went through a similar interview with MTV earlier.

Corgan then tries to go off-script and asks Cave about foreign bands' struggle to break through in America, but Cave again takes offence to being lumped in with British and European bands. Corgan jokingly adds that everything outside his native US looks like one country to most Americans, but by then Cave doesn't seem in the mood for any jokes.

The Bad Seeds singer, who was in his late 30s at the time, finally tells Corgan that he has the mentality of a teenager.

Ouch.
