"Like A Rolling Stone" only reached number four in the UK charts, though at least it got to number two in the Billboards. Still, he's a figurehead of social unrest - his songs becoming anthems for American civil rights and anti-war movements - surely they should've launched higher in the charts?
Gary Glitter Has Had Three Number One Hits
His songs "I'm The Leader Of The Gang (I Am)", "Always Yours" and "I Love You Love Me Love" all hit the top of the charts in the '70s. Glitter's long and (unfortunately) highly successful career ended in the late 1990s by repeated revelations of child sexual abuse and convictions for the possession of child pornography.
