10 Underrated Albums By Huge Bands

3. Second Coming - The Stone Roses (1994)

Nothing was going to come close to the sonic experience that was the Stone Roses debut. The cultural impact of their 1989 album can still be felt today. It was the album that popularised the signature Mancunian swagger, even among posh southern type. And, without the Stones Roses there would be no Oasis...

So when the band finally released their follow up album, four and a half years later, it had a lot to live up to. The buzz surrounding its release, made it an instant top ten container in the UK charts. Eager fans wasted no time exchanging their hard earned cash for copies, and depleting stores of their stock. But all the build up in anticipation, was apparently too much for many critics, who upon hearing it, panned the record.

Granted, there isn't the same number of standout classic, but the core sound of the Roses is there. There are trace elements of psychedelia, there's an unrelenting groove throughout, and the riff work is on point. Ultimately, the albums legacy has been harmed by the cultural significance of what came before. But, this is still an album worth your time.
