10 Underrated Linkin Park Songs

5. Session - Meteora

It's practically a miracle that Linkin Park was able to equal the success they had with Hybrid Theory with Meteora. While not every song from the record has the power to become eternally memed like Crawling or In the End, the pieces were strong enough that nearly half of the track listing became hits on alternative rock radio. Session may not have been the go-to hit from the record, but it might have the single greatest performance from Mr. Hahn.

At this point, turntables were nothing new in the world of nu metal. What was new was the way that Joe used them to create different soundscapes in just a few minutes, putting together piano lines and delicate string parts to make a virtual environment in your head. Instead of trying to frighten you, this feels like the kind of music that the man on the cover is listening to, as he sits in his workshop making different forms of art.

Since this is the final part of the album right before Numb, it gives us a chance to kind of decompress from the tense emotions on the record before the last big gut punch. Of all the accolades that this album has gotten, this was the only part of the record that was nominated for a Grammy, and it sure as hell deserves it.
