10 Weirdest Rock Songs Ever Made
8. Bip Bop - Paul McCartney and Wings
There's no real guide book on how to recover after being in the biggest band in the world. During the start of the '70s, the lives of the former Beatles started to venture down much different roads compared to the masterpieces like Abbey Road and Revolver. While John Lennon and George Harrison managed to get past the barrier unscathed, Paul McCartney's first step up with Wings had a little bit of off the wall craziness in mind with Bip Bop.
Before going into the song though, it's important to know where Paul was at this point. Seeing how this was his first proper band, most of Wild Life was meant to be released raw, almost like you're looking in on a jam session than a collection of songs. As such, Bip Bop is probably the weirdest thing Paul had taken on up until this point, being just a riff on one musical idea repeated for about 4 minutes.
It's almost like the song is taunting you, given that this little piece of music is probably the catchiest thing across the whole record outside of the last song Dear Friend. For as much as McCartney could be a master of melody at the best of times, this exercise in minimalism made a lot of fans wonder whether the Cute One had lost his touch.
