10 Weirdest Songs By Legendary Artists

7. Love Song - Alice in Chains

The whole idea behind Alice in Chains' acoustic sessions happened entirely as a goof. While Jerry Cantrell got some studio time to work on the demo for what would become the song Would? for the Singles soundtrack, they had some days left over to just knock out a couple of acoustic jams, giving birth to the original SAP EP. You can definitely feel the kind of freewheeling attitude by listening to songs like Right Turn, but Love Song is the one track that's more of a mad experiment than an actual song.

In between cutting the proper songs, the guys wanted to mess around and thought it would be a good idea if every one of them switched instruments. Though it's a little spotty as to who picked up which guitar in the studio, you can definitely tell that this is not the first instrument for anyone in the band, as the track switches between complete amateur hour before turning up all of the distortion and making some pretty decent noise metal on the back half, all while you hear distorted bits and pieces from the microphone.

Then again, this is the kind of song that feels more like a time capsule than an actual song, just recorded on the fly for the guys to have a good time before making themselves more vulnerable on the next album Dirt. That kind of darkness was a long way away though, and there's nothing wrong with using the studio as a playground every now and again.
