10 Weirdest Songs By Legendary Artists

3. U-Fig - System of A Down

For a band that's as serious about politics as System of a Down, they've never lost their more comedic side in their music. Right when they were making songs like Toxicity, there were also deep cuts that had such works of prose like "PULL THE TAPEWORM OUT OF YOUR ASS." 2005 gave the band a much bigger target with the Iraq War getting underway, and even the more absurd songs tended to have a little bit of satire to them.

If anything, what makes U-Fig so weird is just how the song changes on a dime, going from a delicate intro to Serj Tankian screaming his head off before harmonizing on the chorus. When you listen to what he's saying though, things are deadly serious, talking about wanting to go and melt in the sun for a war that didn't make any sense. The first installment Mezmerize already had the song Cigaro about the suits in Washington wanting to count their money and distill the war down to a pissing contest, but this aggressive sound is more of a satire of what you saw on the news, with everyone trying to rally up the troops and glorifying the life of a soldier.

Once you see the horrors that await you on the other side, you start to see what they're trying to do, almost brainwashing you into wanting to pick up a gun yourself. You can talk about wanting to come and join the cause, but it's anyone guess whether you're coming back a war hero or signing your own death sentence.
