10 Worst Album Covers In Rock
4. Metal Magic - Pantera
Most people familiar with heavy music don't really need any introduction when it comes to Pantera. From the snarl of Cowboys From Hell to the pure bludgeoning of Vulgar Display of Power, these Texas metalheads were the few flying the flag for all things heavy in the '90s, with the album covers being no exception. On the other hand, time never forgets your more sophomoric beginnings.
Instead of the hard-edged punch to the gut you got in the '90s, Pantera's first inception as a glam band was one of the most unintentionally hilarious things to look back on, starting with Metal Magic. In what can only be described as doofy, this character of sorts looks like they were trying to make some scary sort of metal mascot like Iron Maiden. However, one look at this will elicit more chuckles out of metalheads than something like Eddie would have.
From the way he's holding this sword (I think) to the "sinister" smile that he's supposed to have, most of this looks like some of the cheesiest metal there is out there. For as bad as this is, it might just go all the way around back into being endearing. Make no mistake, this is one of the least scary metal album covers out there, but you'd be hardpressed to find anyone who says that they outright hate this album cover.
