10 Worst Closing Songs On Great Albums
9. Arto - System of a Down
For coming out in the midst of the nu metal movement, Toxicity is where the entire genre of metal started to turn a corner. Since the rest of the scene were talking about their parental issues in their songs, here was a compact set of political songs, social commentary, and just the slightest traces of humor to keep everything together. And the thing should logically end at Aerials, until Arto comes in towards the very end.
Before we get into it, it's completely understandable why System wanted to include a song like this, being performed by an artist friend of theirs with different woodwind instruments. When you have Aerials already putting the final nail in the coffin of this album though, you can't help but listen to this and just think that it's a little unnecessary, even for an album that has a song like Bounce on it.
Granted, the reason it isn't higher on a list like this is because it's a hidden track, almost like it serves as an Easter Egg for the fans who waited until the very end of the record. Compared to the dramatic fade to black that happened on Aerials, this is the equivalent of what closing credits would sound like as a song. They are necessary, but it's also where most of us start to tune out a little bit.
