10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of The 2000s

8. Jaded - Aerosmith

Worst Offender: "My, my baby blue/yeah I'm talkin' 'bout you/my, my baby blue"

At the dawn of the '00s, Aerosmith already had more status in the rock world than many other bands of their ilk. After a few sour years, the band had still ruled the '90s with stellar hooks and even a #1 record with the tie-in movie song "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing." What do you do after that? Start going down the slope at warp speed.

It didn't really take a rocket scientist to realize that there was something terribly wrong with "Jaded" once you heard it. The pop shimmer it gave off was not what you typically hear from Aerosmith, but Steven Tyler's filthy lyrics were still accounted for. Then we get to the chorus, where the singalong sections are just musings about "my baby blue." Unless Aerosmith were ahead of the curve when it came to the folklore behind Breaking Bad 9 years later, this is one of the band's biggest songs that barely has a chorus to tie it together.

Regardless of its lack of a true hook, "Jaded" ended up being a killer hit that year, which was only boosted when the band entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Aerosmith deserves to be in the conversation of rock's greatest bands, but this is not necessarily the kind of single you want representing what the band stands for.
