10 Worst Hard Rock Lyrics Of The '90s

8. D'You Know What I Mean - Oasis

As grunge faded, it seemed inevitable that Oasis would rise to the top of the rock and roll spectrum. However, after releasing two classic albums with Definitely Maybe and What's the Story Morning Glory?, even the band were probably apprehensive about how to follow it up. Though "D'You Know What I Mean?" delivered on a pure sonic level, it took a few listens before fans knew what they were hearing.

Coming as the leadoff single from Be Here Now, the verses seem to be nothing more than just badass images being painted in your mind, all while quoting Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks and the Beatles' "A Fool on the Hill." That's not necessarily a bad way to start off so long as you have something tying it together, but the main chorus vocal of "D'You Know What I Mean?" ends up telling us absolutely nothing.

Instead of being something that an entire arena of people can shout into the world, the idea of having this questioning line being sung at half capacity by Liam Gallagher ended up being a precursor for one of the biggest flops in music history. Oasis already had two fantastic albums to their name, but trying to claim their next song as a classic on name recognition alone made for one of the dumbest lyric sheets to ever reach the top of the charts.
