10 Worst Number One Rock Albums Of The 1980s

2. Precious Time - Pat Benatar

Even though she provided the '80s with plenty of big hits - Love Is a Battlefield and Hit Me With Your Best Shot come to mind - Pat Benatar only achieved a single US number one album during her prime.

It was this one, in case you hadn't figured that out.

Precious Time spent a single week atop the rankings in 1981, in between records by The Moody Blues and Foreigner. This came just a few weeks before another female rock icon, Stevie Nicks, would also become a chart topper for the first time as a solo act.

Unfortunately for Pat, Precious Time was not Bella Donna; in fact, it wasn't much of anything at all. None of its nine songs were particularly memorable, including a devastatingly flat cover of Helter Skelter to close things out, and critics were disappointed that this promising star hadn't gone further with her third studio release.

Benatar had played it way too safe, and whilst this may have earned her a number one record, it did little to endear her to fans of the well-crafted and exciting music that she had presented on her previous two efforts.
