5. Eagles at Benefit Gig

Any band can get over a bad show every now and again. Just like any other professional, you just have to brush yourself off and move on to the next gig, hopefully trying to give 110% to everyone who paid for a ticket that night. Gigs may come and go, but the Eagles do have a case for playing a show that officially broke them up.

Around the time the Long Run tour started to wind down, the Eagles went back to California to play a benefit show for Senator Alan Cranston, which didn't sit well with Don Felder. After the Senator went up to the band personally to thank them for their service, Felder's reply of "You're welcome...I guess" sent Glenn Frey into a fury, as he seethed backstage waiting for showtime.

Since this was all made for a benefit show, there is also the full audio of the set available to the public, with Glenn calling out the songs from the stage and insulting Felder after every song. You can hear them promising to kick the other's ass once they walk offstage, but Felder ultimately stormed out after the gig, leaving the rest of the band in limbo. By the time that Timothy Schmidt called Frey a few weeks later, the writing was on the wall. The fun in the sun was officially over.
